Golf Foundation welcomes Sunderland support
Monday 11th February 2008The Golf Foundation is delighted to announce that Sunderland of Scotland has signed up as its Official Rainwear Supplier for 2008. The Scottish-based rainwear company, internationally respected for the quality of its products, has shown its continued support for nine years.
The Golf Foundation, a charity committed to the sporting and social development of young people through golf, is a supporter of the national golf partnerships in their objective of growing the game.
Much of the work of the Golf Foundation team is of the outdoor variety. The new deal with Sunderland of Scotland will mean the Foundation's committed team of Regional Development Officers will be well protected in all weathers using latest Sunderland products.
Brendon Pyle, National Development Manager, for the Golf Foundation, said: "Our team, just like the youngsters who love their new sport of golf, are not easily put off by the rain and the wind. However, when the weather is bad, it certainly helps to be wearing excellent wet-weather clothing from Sunderland of Scotland and we are delighted with the new arrangement."
Brian Mair, Sales and Marketing Director, for Sunderland added: "Our association with the Golf Foundation is something that is very important to us, as we see this as our opportunity to put something back. The Golf Foundation do a wonderful job introducing youngsters to the game we all love, preparing them for not just life on the fairways - but life itself".
In school and community golf initiatives, which provide a pathway for the new player from the school to the golf club, the Golf Foundation works with ever-increasing numbers of children and supporting adults. In 2007 the Foundation trained a total of 4,451 volunteers, sports leaders, coaches and teachers to deliver golf to youngsters (this figure represents a 44 per cent increase from 2006) and an estimated 700,000 children experienced golf through the Golf Foundation.
To maintain this momentum the Golf Foundation needs more funding from golfers up and down the country. The Foundation recently started the ‘Commit to Junior Golf' campaign, in which it is asking all golf club members to contribute £2 per year to help protect the future of the game.
